Pilates is an intelligent, stimulating and challenging way to exercise without being repetitive, respecting your body it offers a thorough yet painfree workout - whatever your age. At Osteopilates, Marie Maubouché-Tinniswood ensures your movements are efficient yet precise, and takes into account your individual needs throughout the class. Your well being and safety throughout is of priority to Marie Maubouché-Tinniswood - as well as being a Pilates teacher she is also a qualified osteopath.
Pilates improves the flexibility of your muscles whilst also toning and strengthening them, this in turn allows a more balanced and aligned posture with increased mobility resulting in a more sane and stress free body.
Pilates is also practised by elite sportsmen and women who wish to develop their sporting performance and prevent possible muscular injuries. Pilates is thoroughly complementary to osteopathy or any other rehabilitation therapy.
To find out more: The origins of Pilates

Pilates exercises are performed on mats, and also (when the studios are equipped, obviously!) on specialised equipment such as the Reformer, Trapeze Table (also called Cadillac), Exo chair and Ladder Barrel. This equipment allows for a very precise training, extremely difficult to achieve on mats.
Pilates practised on specialised equipment enables a more controlled and precise way of exercising thanks to the resistance of the springs and this not only strengthens but stretches the muscles thus allowing more joint flexibility and an overall more healthy, harmonius and balanced musculature.
Using the Pilates equipment there are over 500 exercises possible which ensures varied and interesting classes. The springs resistance can be adapted to individual needs changing the emphasis of the exercise whilst coupled with the specificity of the exercise enables a precise targeting of the muscles needed to be worked on. All in all this eliminates any compensatory movements in the body.
At Osteopilates we have invested in a full range of Pilates equipment and encourage you to practice on each piece of equipment during your class.
Marie trained in rehabilitation Pilates with Polestar Pilates in London. Their course is designed specifically for healthcare professionals.
Exercising with Pilates equipment complements osteopathy treatment. Together they provide a comprehensive treatment program and help prevent recurrence of injury.
A medical case history will be taken before starting your first Pilates session and Marie will create you a personalised program. Here are just a few examples of the conditions that can be treated:
herniated discs, stenosis, spondylolythesis, hypermobile joints/joint laxity, recent operations, post-partum/breast feeding mums, high/low blood pressure, vertigo, sports injuries, postural problems, neural tension or fibromyalgia
We offer Pilates workshops on equipment over weekends (suitable for hen weekends or short breaks) or during holidays - accomodation can be arranged with a nearby charming bed and breakfast La Métairie Rouge. It's even more stunning in real life than on the pictures, and the hosts Claire and Laurent are lovely people - and fantastic cooks! Contact us for more info.
